Getting To The Heart Of The Matter

I was browsing the bookshelves of  Amazon and was excited to discover there’s a new book – Faulks on Fiction – by Sebastian Faulks coming out.

I checked out the back cover and came across this.  Now publishers' blurbs are usually enough to send one’s eyeballs rolling into the back of one’s skull.

But these words struck me because they seemed to sum up precisely what we in adland endeavour to produce every day:

“… make something thrilling out of the recognizable”

“… a real story that, however unlike our own life it might seem, can reach the humanity common to us all”

Words to live by. Or at least work by.
